July 23, 2026

Craig Carton and Chris McMonigle dive into the Mets’ struggling fan experience and ask whether Steve Cohen needs to do more to bring fans back to Citi Field.
Speakers: Craig Carton, Chris McMonigle
**Craig Carton** (0:02)
Oh, here's Billy, he needs ice cream on the fan. Billy, what's going on, kiddo?

**Chris McMonigle** (0:07)
What's up?

**SPEAKER_3** (0:08)
Hey, what's up, Craig and Big Mac? How are you guys?

**Craig Carton** (0:10)
Great, thank you.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:12)
I love the new motif of the show. The way you guys think is great. But now you were just talking, excuse me, you were talking about the pricing of the tickets.
Why doesn't Uncle Steve lower the prices for parking? Maybe more people would go.

**Craig Carton** (0:25)
Great question.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:26)
You've given us a crappy product on the field, but you want us to still pay the 40 bucks to park.

**Craig Carton** (0:32)
I'll do one better. I think, and I'm saying this knowing it would never happen, and I came to say that I would do it if I own the team and it's my money. So I want to be fair about this. I'm being hypocritical for sure, but since it's not my money, I don't own the team, I can say this. I would say for the entire month of September, single game seats, five bucks.
I would do dollar sodas and water and pretzels and popcorn. I would do something, anything to try to show the fan base that I get it. Because remember a year ago, he's the guy that yelled at the fan base for not showing up. And the fan base showed up in record numbers. Great job by Mets fans. And the Mets obviously had that disappointing second half and you lose to the Reds. And oh my God, what the hell happened, right? But when you're charging $40 or $50, if you're not doing it, I guess, online, I think that's the deal he said, remember a month ago? Yep. If you're still charging me $40 or $50 to park, and a bottle of water still costs $8, you're not incentivizing me to go.
And beyond that, as a Met fan, you're not even asking me to go, really.
You're not giving me a single reason to take my... Like, you have two young boys. Like, my kids are older. Like, for you and your wife, I know you're a Yankee fam.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:54)
I'm asking you to pretend it for a minute.

**Craig Carton** (1:56)
If I said to you for you to take a family for to a Met game, and you gotta pay for parking, which based on where you live, you have to, you're not taking, you know, the 7-door line, right?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:04)
Right.

**Craig Carton** (2:06)
I'm saying four tickets, and kids, that means between you as a family, just to make this up, six hot dogs, eight total drinks between you, between sodas for the kids, and maybe you and your wife have a beer, that kind of thing, right?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:20)
Right.

**Craig Carton** (2:21)
Or a couple beers. You're not going there for less than 300 bucks.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:25)
Right.

**Craig Carton** (2:25)
Ballpark, is that fair?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:26)
Yeah, I think that's around it.

**Craig Carton** (2:27)
So you're not gonna go. Okay, A, because I'm seeing a bad product. B, they're probably selling the talented guys outside of Soto Lindoor that they got. So now you're seeing a minor league team for a lot of it, and it's very expensive. But you might consider going if the Mets said, okay, first come first serve, but it's $10 to park.
Sotus, popcorn, pretzels and water are now five bucks, as opposed to eight or more.
You might say, you know what? We can now go for 120 bucks, as opposed to 300 bucks. That'd be a great afternoon or evening with the kids.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:05)
Absolutely, no, for half the price, those are the kind of incentives you're gonna have to make, but let's be totally honest. It's even those prices, it's about incentive, the incentive is go see a good baseball team.

**Craig Carton** (3:16)
Which no longer exists.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:17)
Which doesn't exist anymore.

**Craig Carton** (3:18)
But for a six year old, just being in the ballpark is bigger than life.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:22)
Big night on the summer, let's do something, we can go to the ballpark, I get it, and it should be. They should cut prices. And I said, to be fair to the Mets, they have put $10 worth of soda, whatever, $10 worth of concessions on their tickets, right? Is that just for season tickets? I think season tickets...

**Craig Carton** (3:40)
Good question, I don't know the answer to that.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:42)
I think that's what Evan was telling me. Season ticket owners now get $10 for every ticket to go spend on food or ice cream or whatever.
