And we will have plenty of football discussion as we gear up for week one of the NFL preseason kicking off here on Thursday. Storylines galore. We've already placed some week one bets. In addition to our futures bets, we'll recap some of those, especially the ones that we talked about on yesterday's edition of Live Bet Saturday. First, let's get to the Major League Baseball scoreboard, the Tigers and the Giants are in the top of the eighth inning. They are in the bottom of the fourth inning. White Sox with a 5-2 lead over the Guardians. They are in the top of the eighth inning, and the Tigers and Giants are nodded at one. Going to the top of the seventh inning, the Diamondbacks have a 4-2 lead over the Dodgers. Top of the sixth inning, the Rays on top of the Mariners, 4-1. Your Sunday Night Baseball game coming up a couple of hours from now, the Astros at the Padres. Some finals from earlier and some interesting results from earlier. Nationals, a 7-1 win over the Reds. The A's beat the Red Sox 4-3. The Red Sox losing back-to-back games for the first time in a month or so. The Red Sox were, what was it? 27-3 over a 30-game stretch, lose back-to-back games to the A's, of all teams, to the A's. First time they've lost consecutive games since June 29th to July 1st. That's the last time they lost consecutive games. They've been just on an incredible run right now. Here's the craziest part about this.
Credit to Bob Nightingale from USA Today who tweeted this out. So not only did the Red Sox lose back-to-back games for the first time since June 29th to July 1st, but the team that beat them, the A's, they won back-to-back games for the first time since June 25th to 26th. So you had a Red Sox team that had not lost back-to-back games in a month versus a team in the A's that had not won back-to-back games in over a month, partially because they just lose every night. But they win back-to-back. The A's win their first series since June 12th to 14th. Rare loss for the Boston Red Sox who were sizable favorites. You know who else was sizable favorites here on Sunday? The Milwaukee Brewers, actually the largest favorite of the day, took extra innings, but they walk off against the Twins 4-3 in 10 innings. Also an extra innings, the Phillies walk off against the Blue Jays 7-6 in a series that neither team wanted to win. I don't know, watching that series and watching yesterday go to extra innings and then today go to extra innings, it just felt like both teams were trying to give it away. I mean, the Phillies who I thought would be a little bit more aggressive at the trade deadline than they were, and Luis Arais was a great addition because they needed somebody to kind of set the table for them and Trey Turner had been slumping, but their bullpen just continues to blow leads. I mean, this is now two days in a row here against the Blue Jays and even, well, three days, you go back to the first game of the series, the bullpen just continues to blow leads for this team. That's not going to be a good thing when you're approaching your postseason push here as we go throughout the remainder of the summer and into September till we get to October. Your bullpen is going to have to shut it down for you, and the Phillies bullpen did not do that this weekend against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Mets, a day after getting blown out by the Pirates, hand back the favor as they blow out the Pirates 11 to 1 Braves, 10 inning victory over the Yankees, 2 to 1 Marlins, a 12-3 rout over the Angels. Cubs rout the Royals 10 to 2 The Cardinals, 7-4 over the Rockies. The Orioles, 10-5 over the Rangers. So a lot of runs being scored today, Major League Baseball. Kind of like zigzagging with teams that had results on Saturday, kind of flip-flopped here on Sunday. And yes, we are tracking the games that are still in progress right now. Of course, we will preview Sunday Night Baseball coming up. Football has kind of been on everybody's minds right now. As we head through the month of August into September, college football will be here before we know it, right? With, what is it, the 29th, the Saturday, that first game, Bill Belichick in North Carolina, in Dublin, Ireland, against TCU, and then all the drama that North Carolina is dealing with, with their general manager, our former colleague, Michael Lombardi, being put on leave, and now Stephen Belichick, Bill Belichick's son, the defensive coordinator, taking the leave of absence from the team for medical issues. Obviously, that's going to impact their first game of the season, going to Europe and playing against a TCU team in Ireland. So we have college footballs on the minds. But the NFL, it seems like every single day now, as we progress through training camp, we have news coming out, whether it's an injury, right? And we're finding out, you know, yesterday, the big news, Laramie Tunsell out for the Washington Commanders. They're starting left tackle, going to miss a large portion, if not all of the regular season after he suffers a torn triceps muscle. Today, we get the news that Dylan Radunz, the starting guard for the New Orleans Saints out for the season with a torn ACL.
