You may know as the New York Knicks were going on their championship run, there's a lot of little great side stories. I thought one of the better side stories was the emergence of a local kid who became a rap legend here in these parts. And I met him when he was like eight years old. So again, another guy I meet as a kid becomes a rock star, Pete. It's amazing. Just the way it goes sometimes, just the way it goes.

Lil Dee, what's up, what's up, what's up? So you came on our show, you had put together, frankly, I thought about it a lot. It was a little short for me, to be honest, a little short. Schrager, what's up?

Yeah, that's the way it goes, that's the way it goes. So what came, I'll tell you my criticism of your app in a second, but what came of your appearance on our show?
What happened after that?

It was amazing. I mean, the video went viral. I mean, it was so crazy. For me, just personally, getting to rap for one of my favorite rappers of all time was crazy. Getting to rap for you was crazy, you know, as we spoke about last time, just I grew up listening to you and it's it was great. But overall, it was it was an amazing thing. The fans were really excited. My fans were excited about it. And actually, right after that happened, the Knicks called me up and they were like, Yo, the video was great. Just everything you've been doing is great. We want you to come to game two of the NBA finals for the watch party outside of the finals. Yeah. So for the finals, you didn't call.

Oh, you know, I was I was going to call. We got to exchange.

See, that's what happens.
Sometimes you become a star. You forget the little people. You forget all the shoulders and backs you walked over to get to Madison Square Garden.

I get great joy this stage of my life. Like I've had a career, it speaks for itself whether you like it or not, 35 years in. When I can help someone who's not known yet or discovered yet reach their potential, I get great personal satisfaction out of that. So the fact that the Knicks are obviously very close with, saw it, loved it, invited you to do the outdoor party, that had to be awesome.

It was amazing. I mean, every kid that wants to be a performer or anything, really, Madison Square Garden is kind of like the bar of, this is the greatest thing ever. You know, it's the world's most-

Now to be fair, you didn't perform inside the garden.

**Lil Dee** (2:59)
It was right outside.

**Craig Carton** (3:00)
You performed outside the garden. Like a lot of other people. A lot of street performers.

**Lil Dee** (3:05)
You know, if they would have had like an inside watch.

**Craig Carton** (3:07)
You were like, yo, guess what? I'm playing the garden tonight. No, you're not.

**Lil Dee** (3:11)
He was asked to be there by the Knicks.

**Craig Carton** (3:13)
You're playing Seventh Avenue tonight. You ain't playing the garden tonight.

**Lil Dee** (3:16)
It was crazy though. There were so many fans that came out to watch it. And, you know, a lot of fans were there and they were just very happy to see me doing it. A lot of Knicks fans in general, like even if somebody doesn't know me for my own music, a lot of Knicks fans have gotten on board with my stuff through the Knicks stuff. And like I was able to perform the Knicks song and then I did one of my own songs and the crowd loved it. It was a great moment. Just shout out to the Knicks and the whole organization, everybody that's always helped me along the journey. I've been doing Knicks rap since 2024, you know, I feel like a lot of rappers made raps about the Knicks during the finals run.
