Hour 4: Ricky Ricardo and McMonigle Analyze Yankees' Major Series vs. Rays

Little James Taylor to get us going at 5 o'clock. It is so funny. I saw obviously a bunch of people over the weekend. We were at the Yankee game, then we did the fourth at a buddy's house. You know, don't see them all that much. I can't tell you how many people asked me. First thing, not like, you know, I don't know, how's life or this or that. After they asked me, does Pete really not know all the forefathers like that? Was that real? Are you guys messing around? After that, of course, he doesn't really think Abraham Lincoln was a forefather, does he?
After that, of course, the one thing they say without question is, do you guys know that you constantly have the wrong bands when you guys talk about the music coming in and out of breaks? I hear it all. It is amazing to me. You know, the other day, you guys, you said Metallica, it was clearly Pantera. I mean, like, do you guys, do you even like music? Do you even like spots? Like every time, it's the number one thing I get all the time.
Wow, I couldn't believe you said that.
Yes, I'm aware that was Billy Joel, but it's fun. It really bothers people. It's very funny. 888-808-1019, McMonigle here with you for another hour as we take it a Yankee pregame. At some point, I'll find Ricky Ricardo. I went out into the newsroom. He's busy. He's, I don't know what he's doing right now, but if we see Ricky, we'll bring Ricky in and get a little feel for his take on the Yankees, obviously around the team, and they head to Tampa for the biggest series of the year. Well, I was just going to say, because you've teased it a lot with the Mitchell Robinson stuff.

But you didn't talk about his note to everybody.

That's true, yes. We also found out what happened. We were talking about the truth. I know. I was going to get to Mitchell here, actually. I was talking about promoting Ricky, but you're right. Mitchell Robinson, they have signed Andre Drummond. That is going to be the new backup center. I think in some ways, look, he's not quite the offensive rebounder. A little bit better at shooting from some free throws. We saw his ability. I mean, he tried to back in from the three point line. His offensive game still isn't great. But I think for throws at 3.9 million, Drummond to the Knicks.
In Leon Rose, we trust. I don't have any problems with it. I think it's as good an option as they had now that Mitchell's gone. I think he can still play, get some big rebounds, veteran player, been around. I think it's a solid pick up. Now, the other thing Pete was talking about is yes, on a Facebook post, I believe, Mitchell Robinson explained what happened. I'm paraphrasing. If you have it up, you can read it, Pete. But pretty much what happened was, is there was a, I think it was the night after they clinched the East, he heads home, and he finds out that his brother was in an accident. And he was concerned for his brother, and he was frustrated that he wasn't around. And, you know, he's dealt with issues. He's openly admitted that he's struggled sometimes, you know, mentally, and being in the right, you know, being in the right frame of mind at times, and in a moment of frustration and feeling like he wasn't as good a brother as he could be, I suppose.
He punched his car.
So that's what happened. Mitchell Robinson, out of frustration, after a family incident where his brother was involved in a car accident, thankfully, I believe his brother is okay.
But out of frustration and fear for his brother, and the frustration of not being there for his brother, he punched his car and broke his hand.
He also talked about how immediately, talking to the doctors, he felt confident he could play, and he did, and the Knicks won a championship. So yes, if we would have found out, and this is like one of those things, if we would have found out that he broke his hand punching his car, and he couldn't play, or he didn't impact the series, and the Knicks had lost to the Spurs, that is something that Nick fans would have had a tough time with. Even understanding the scenario about his brother, you know, it's not, we all understand how you can have, it's a reasonable frustration and scared thing, but at the same time, you are a professional athlete, you have a responsibility to protect yourself.
