**Craig Carton** (0:00)
Everybody, everybody, everybody! Ah, you know what this reminds me of? This song, it's a blast from the past. Reminds me of William Tell, Dancing in Tiananmen Square. The old days. The old days of disco.
Yeah!
Anyway. Someone's gotta tell Tommy and Luke I'm just gonna stop. You gotta stop. I'm telling you, I'm giving you advice. You gotta stop. You can't come on the radio last night and say that the Mets outfield is a reason for optimism. You got, you, I'm trying to be a good guy. You gotta stop. It doesn't work.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:43)
That's positive Tommy.
**Craig Carton** (0:44)
Yeah, but that's gotta stop. I'm just, I'll see him later, I'll tell him. I'm not gonna see him. Yankees are on, right? 6.3 tonight.
Nice.
**SPEAKER_4** (0:53)
Well, nice. Yeah.
**Craig Carton** (0:54)
Okay, I'll call him. I'll tell him.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:55)
Call him. You have his number? No.
**Craig Carton** (0:57)
Yeah. You call him. Tell him.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:58)
I'll call him.
**Craig Carton** (0:59)
You gotta stop. You gotta stop. When everyone in the fan base understands that it's a poop show and it ain't gonna get better and you're irrelevant, you can't come on and go, you know, the outfield is a source of positivity.
But you can't.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:16)
I guess maybe he means moving forward beyond this year.
**Craig Carton** (1:19)
Oh, it's being reported now, what I reported. Landry Shammet, three-year, four-year deal, pardon me, $24 million.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:25)
Okay.
**Craig Carton** (1:26)
So that's, I guess it was unofficial when I said it. Now it's official because people are now reporting what I reported half-hour ago.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:34)
It's officially official. Good for you.
**Craig Carton** (1:36)
Which means we're one guy away.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:37)
One guy away.
**Craig Carton** (1:38)
One guy away from keeping the crew to the...
**Chris McMonigle** (1:40)
The run-it-back Knicks.
**Craig Carton** (1:42)
Exactly right. The run-it-back Knicks are a guy away.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:45)
I want to play this highlight for you.
**Craig Carton** (1:46)
Oh yeah, okay.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:48)
This is Aaron Boone after the sweep. After the debacle that was this weekend in Boston. Totally agree. It was a... Again, we went over it. As much as I'm a positive guy, this is... Even with the injuries, they should not be swept by this lousy Red Sox team. It's embarrassing. And hopefully it ends right there and starts a new winning streak tonight. But obviously, terrible, terrible weekend. So he's asked in the postgame, and I left a question in there just so you heard it. How do you keep the guys, like, in the right frame of mind?
How do you not let this spiral out of control? Because to be fair, I would not call this a swoon yet. I would not call this a swoon.
**Craig Carton** (2:22)
They're 500 in the month.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:23)
They're 500 in the month. They are three and eight in their last 11 But we have seen swoons. Without question, almost yearly, the Yankees go through a stretch. And as I forget his last name, I'm going to do his podcast, whatever coming up. Guy named Chris, he talked about 20 games under 300 winning percentage. That's a swoon. I tend to agree with him.
The Yankees aren't there just yet. How do you avoid the yearly swoon considering the mentality? Pretty much. But here's the question. And then Boone's answer is being mocked universally. So I want to hear what you think.
**Craig Carton** (2:57)
I haven't heard it yet, so I'll give you my honest opinion.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:59)
I want to hear what you think because I understand what he's saying.
**Craig Carton** (3:02)
And what's my, am I choosing between mock or no mock?
**Chris McMonigle** (3:06)
I think it's kind of mock or no mock.
**Craig Carton** (3:08)
Okay. This is Aaron Boone with the question.
**SPEAKER_4** (3:10)
Go ahead. You make sure, like you said, a tough weekend like this doesn't snowball into anything. That's what we do, baby.
You got to love this stuff. You got to eat this stuff up. It's a sickness. And you got to just, that's what the grind is. We got a really good freaking team. You know, we played crappy on this trip, kind of feels bad, kind of pissed off, right?
But it's what we do. It's what you sign up for. We'll dig ourselves out of it and get it going here in short order. But we just, bottom line is we didn't play well this weekend. We got to do better.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:46)
Awesome. Thank you.
**Craig Carton** (3:48)
Yeah. That it's, he loves the grind. The work.
