Hour 3: Carton Demands Knicks Parade Spot Over "Hater" Evan Roberts

The Carton Show with Craig Carton & Chris McMonigle

June 16, 2026

Craig Carton challenges the Knicks parade broadcast lineup, arguing that true fans should lead the celebration instead of Evan Roberts.
Speakers: Craig Carton, Chris McMonigle, Pete
**Craig Carton** (0:00)
Yeah, that's a guarantee for me. That way, it's gonna be like a family heirloom.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:04)
I need that ball.

**Craig Carton** (0:05)
Remember when grandpa told us about the gold basketball?
Do we still have it? Matter of fact, we do at bigtimebats.com. All right, so that's Fanatics Fest. I now have no plans that weekend because I'm very busy.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:18)
Why would you agree to that?

**Craig Carton** (0:20)
I don't know. It makes it very hard for me to say no.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:23)
I did get bored of it. I guess I knew you guys were friends, but man, you're like me and you're like brothers. And you're like me and like my best friend. All we do is bust each other's shoes.

**Craig Carton** (0:33)
Yeah, 30 years. He came here on a mission to bust your balls. Yes, he did.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:36)
That was tremendous.

**Craig Carton** (0:37)
I was a kid. He chased me around his office with a needle. What are we doing, dude?

**Chris McMonigle** (0:41)
I'm glad I'm not his friend. You'll be cutting off flesh.

**Craig Carton** (0:45)
Yeah, in any event, good times. The Fanatics Fest will be fun. And yes, I am doing the podcast also with a little Wayne. But you and I will be there Thursday live, Friday live.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:54)
And I'll be there Saturday doing a Saturday show. So I'll hang with you for a little bit, but I'm not saying I'll be there. I'll be there. But I'm not saying all night. You forget that.

**Craig Carton** (1:00)
You hang as long as you want to.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:01)
I'll hang out a little bit with you.

**Craig Carton** (1:02)
I told Pete and Anthony to change whatever plans they had.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:08)
But he said they would provide gas. You don't need Pete.

**Craig Carton** (1:10)
Well, it's going to be just a litany.

**SPEAKER_5** (1:11)
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:13)
I can't wait to see that.

**Craig Carton** (1:14)
And the issue with him is that it's happening. Yeah.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:18)
He seems like a guy who doesn't forget much.

**Craig Carton** (1:19)
Oh, no, no.
It's happening now. I'll be there until the doors close and I get kicked out. And then I'll come back in the morning.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:26)
I was going to ask, but it seemed silly. How did you guys become so close 30 years ago?

**Craig Carton** (1:30)
Well, actually, he knew my wife. Okay.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:34)
He's from Philly, right?

**Craig Carton** (1:35)
Yeah, they're both from Philly. And then when he and I met, you know, sometimes you meet somebody in life and you don't know why, but you just hit it off. Much like you meet people you don't like. He and I met and I can't tell you why. We just connected immediately, very similar interests.
I was with him before, you know, all this started.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:55)
Oh, sure. That's what I'm saying.

**Craig Carton** (1:57)
He had a company called GSI Commerce that he sold to eBay for $2.4 billion before all of it. He and I just became very good friends very, very fast. Like I said, he was at my wedding and I was there for him early on in his voyage. He was there for me, obviously, later on in mine. And we've always had this great brotherly type relationship.
And he's one of the most loyal guys I've ever met.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:23)
That seems like a great thing.

**Craig Carton** (2:24)
I remember Wayne said to me, the guy you have your last meal with before you go to prison is a real friend. And that's who it was.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:31)
Just the two of you or?

**Craig Carton** (2:32)
It was just the two of us. That's right. Just to, you all right? You gonna be all right? Yeah. He did say something at that dinner that I didn't agree with at the time, which he wasn't in retrospect, is right. He goes, three and a half years? I don't go by to blink.
Like what?
Anyway, so we're proud to be part of Fanatics Fest coming up July 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th. Look, the Knicks have a parade on Thursday. Everybody wants to piece that. But maybe more important than the Nick Parade is the fried apple pie is back. Mike and Aberdeen, what's up, Michael?

**SPEAKER_3** (3:09)
How you doing, boys?

**Craig Carton** (3:10)
Great. What's up?

**SPEAKER_3** (3:13)
I mean, I didn't even know about the fried apple pie. I decided to stop for McDonald's on my way into the office this morning, and I got one by mistake, and it was glorious.
