I did an appearance today with Brian Kilmeade on his One Nation Sunday night show. So you can watch, I think it's Sunday night at 10 o'clock. I'm the last segment of the show. And one of the things he said to me today was, what do you think is going to happen in New York City if the New York Knicks win the championship? And more specifically than that, what do you think it's going to be like after Game 3 and 4? Regardless if they close out and sweep the spurs. And I think we're all kind of in agreement on what's going to happen. The city in a good way is going to be on fire. It's going to be the likes of which we've never seen before. We've had parades, we've had championships, we've had success, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. But we've never seen anything like what's going to happen if the Knicks win a championship. One quick note, if I may, this idiot.
So I asked Gallo to heat up my soup for me because I knew I was coming back from the rink.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:37)

**Craig Carton** (1:38)
I'm going to hold this up. Can I hold this up? Can you get a camera on this please? You might want to take the top off of it before you heat it up. In any event, thrilled to have on the line right now an idol of mine, one of the great broadcasters, a Mount Rushmore for sure, the long time voice of not just the Knicks, but the NBA on NBC, the legendary Marv Albert. Marv, Craig Carton, Chris McMonigle, thank you so much for joining us and how are you today?

**Marv Albert** (2:09)
I'm good, Craig and Chris, nice to be with you. Thank you for the nice words. And it's been quite an opening game and I look forward to tonight.

**Craig Carton** (2:21)
Yeah, game two tonight in San Antonio. Does it bring back the memories of 70 and 73 or does it just bring back all the memories for you of doing so many NBA finals for all those years on NBC?

**Marv Albert** (2:35)
Yeah, I know it definitely brings back memories, particularly of 77
The second one that the Knicks won 73 was it wasn't as dramatic. The first was because that's when Willis Reed was injured, no one expected him to play. And at the last minute, he walked on to the court and the Knicks won easily over the Lakers for their first of the two championships. So I would say that is right now the number one highlight from the Knicks point of view. But this team is pretty amazing. I mean, although they had a successful regular season, I can't recall an NBA team making such an incredible flip from looking questionable early in the playoffs to winning 12 in a row, and then having a shot to win the NBA title. But I thought Wendon Yama was fatigued. I think he was affected by the previous series where he won seven games. We might see a different guy out there tonight. Although the Knicks really did a great job the other night, particularly the come from behind effort.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:50)
Yeah, I just wanted to ask you, Marv, if you draw any correlations between this team and those championship teams. That team obviously, again, too young to have watched it myself, but you know, the word is how intelligent they were, what a team they were, how they worked together so well. And that's what we're seeing here. You mentioned the transition from being questionable to dominant here in this postseason. A lot of that has been how they've gelled and how they play together. And I'm assuming that was kind of the trademark of that 69-70 and 72-73 teams.

**Marv Albert** (4:17)
Yeah, I agree with that. And both very smart teams. I mean, the 70, for those who were not around at the time, was Bill Bradley, who came from Princeton, Dave DeBoucher, who they got in an incredible trade, probably the best since, well, I'd say the trade for Blunson with Dallas would be the best since for DeBoucher trade for Willis Reed, but Walt Bellamy and Howard Coleman, maybe three people in the audience remember that.
