It's the Carton Show with Big Mag on a glorious Friday afternoon in New York City. Phone number to join as always, 888-808-1019.
We are now 24 hours away, maybe 30 hours away.
From game five, a chance for the New York Knickerbockers to win their first NBA championship in 53 years. We got a great show for you today. We've got the Knicks' good luck charm coming to the studio today. Mr. Avery Wilson, who's been singing the anthem brilliantly at The Carton, is going to join us at the studio. We're going to have a little sing-off today between Big Mac and Avery Wilson, so I'm looking forward to that. I think legendary New York Knickerbocker, Gerald Wilkins, is going to be stopping by today as well, trying to confirm the time for that right now. And of course, we want all you Knick fans on the horn throughout the afternoon as we discuss and share our feelings, our emotions, our passion for something many of us never thought we would live to see the New York Knicks playing to win an NBA championship. Good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you today?
**Chris McMonigle** (1:19)
I'm doing great, Craig. I couldn't be happier.
**Craig Carton** (1:21)
Right?
**Chris McMonigle** (1:22)
Everything is wonderful.
**Craig Carton** (1:23)
And there's Ogida?
**Chris McMonigle** (1:24)
Oh, there's Ogida.
**Craig Carton** (1:25)
But the feeling is nothing but positive.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:28)
Nothing but positive, clearly. But I am curious a little bit. And obviously, we didn't talk about where you wanted to start the show, but I wanted to ask you.
**Craig Carton** (1:34)
Do it.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:34)
All right?
Are we past it? Are we on to how do they win game number five? Or are we still basking in the glow of the greatest comeback in NBA history?
**Craig Carton** (1:45)
Solid question, solid question.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:46)
Like today, I woke up with the odd yesterday, no ojeda. Yesterday was pure celebration going over all the moments, wanted to get into everything, Wemby from everything else. But now it's like they still have a game to win. And now the ojeda is here because I don't want to come back to New York. I don't want to force a game six. I don't want to see them get a victory. I want it to end Saturday night. So I don't know. Where are you? Are we still basking in the glow?
**Craig Carton** (2:10)
Yes.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:10)
Or are we still are we starting to get that nervousness because there's still one more game to win when you get past it all?
**Craig Carton** (2:16)
I'm not going to give you a cop-out answer and say both because that's a cop-out answer. It might be true but I don't think it's the answer you're looking for. I'm a habitual glow-basker.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:25)
Okay.
**Craig Carton** (2:26)
That's what I am. I don't know that I'm going to bask in the glow of the tip-in for a very, very long time because it represents in my life. Look, I was alive for 1773 but I was an infant. So I have no recollection of 70 or 73 other than watching the videotapes on YouTube and all that stuff.
That is the greatest moment in my lifetime as a Nick fan. Look, because I don't have a championship, like giant fans will tell you, I think you're one of them. While you love the Tyree catch, it's not the greatest giants moment you ever saw.
Because you saw the Giants beat the Broncos in a Super Bowl. You saw the Giants beat the Patriots twice. And maybe for some people, it's the Plaxico Burris, touchdown catch that won the game. I think Tyree is up there obviously.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:14)
I think it's number one for me as a Giant fan.
**Craig Carton** (3:16)
So that's interesting. So it didn't bring you a title though.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:19)
It did.
**Craig Carton** (3:20)
It extended a drive.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:21)
Yeah, but.
**Craig Carton** (3:22)
Right?
**Chris McMonigle** (3:22)
Yes.
**Craig Carton** (3:22)
Like the difference to me, while that's a Super Bowl.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:25)
Technically, the tipping didn't.
**Craig Carton** (3:26)
The tipping won the game.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:28)
So did the defensive play. It wasn't the final play of the game.
**Craig Carton** (3:32)
It was on final points it won the game.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:34)
Yes, it did.
**Craig Carton** (3:34)
Now again, and I'm not minimizing the Tyree catch. It's one of the greatest plays I've ever seen in my lifetime.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:39)
Correct.
**Craig Carton** (3:39)
And I'm not a Giant fan.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:41)
Yeah.
**Craig Carton** (3:41)
