It's The Cartoon Show with Big Mac on a gorgeous Thursday afternoon in New York City. Phone number to join as always, 888-888-888.
Gonna be a busy, busy show, so make sure you get to dial in right away so we can hear your voice throughout the afternoon. Lots cooking today, and who would have thought that here we are midway through the month of June or the last week of June now, and the storyline would be on a relevant team reaching the bottom of the barrel and the fan base ready to protest, to bad, to boycott the stadium and to get everybody fired. So that's the start today after giving up 20 runs yesterday in the day and night doubleheader, the New York Mets are in trouble. Good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you today, buddy? I'm doing well.

**Chris McMonigle** (0:59)
I'm doing great. How are you?

**Craig Carton** (1:00)
Well, today is a bit of an anniversary, though. Is it? That brings good memories and bad memories, if I may.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:06)
Okay.

**Craig Carton** (1:07)
Because today is the day, sadly, that both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died on the same day.
And because Michael Jackson died, Farrah Fawcett got the short end of the stick. Nobody talked about Farrah Fawcett dying, because MJ died. And I will never forget, I was on my way to Rayo's for dinner when I got the news that MJ had died. And then I got drunk, I've told you this story before, with Joe Piscopo, Sonny Grasso, and a little man.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:38)
And that was the same night?

**Craig Carton** (1:39)
And a little man came in. Danny DeVito? Danny DeVito came in selling his limoncello.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:44)
That was the same night Michael Jackson died.

**Craig Carton** (1:46)
That was the same night.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:47)
I forgot that it was the same night.

**Craig Carton** (1:48)
Yes.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:49)
And didn't Farrar Force then become a story because of how she passed away?

**Craig Carton** (1:53)
She stopped breathing, yeah.
That's usually how it happens though, Big Mac. It's usually the storyline around there. I think she had cancer or something. Yeah.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:01)
And it was something about...

**Craig Carton** (2:02)
The angels didn't come to see her or something like that? No, no, no.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:06)
Something about a particular way of lovemaking.

**Craig Carton** (2:10)
Oh, is that right? That she died from? Yeah.
Well, now I want to know.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:15)
Well, it was not necessarily that she died from it, but much...

**Craig Carton** (2:17)
The same way Michael Douglas got cancer?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:20)
Yeah. I think she had...

**Craig Carton** (2:22)
Oh, she had rear end cancer? Is that what you're saying?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:24)
Yes.

**Craig Carton** (2:24)
You think it was caused by...

**Chris McMonigle** (2:25)
I'm not saying that it was.

**Craig Carton** (2:27)
Well, that's a weird thing to say about... That's disrespecting the dead.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:30)
I remember the story being out there that...

**Craig Carton** (2:32)
Is that right?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:33)
Yes.

**Craig Carton** (2:34)
Well, then I know I'm not going to die from that.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:39)
There are worse ways to die, I suppose.

**Craig Carton** (2:41)
Yeah, you could be a Mets fan. And have a summer with nothing to look forward to, right?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:46)
I mean, last night, first, that doubleheader, and we're talking about Rock Bottom a lot with this team, unfortunately. Watching that game, you mentioned 20 runs in the day, 50 runs in their last five. They can't get it out to save their lives. Six errors, the first...

**Craig Carton** (3:01)
That's the key.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:02)
That's the key to this game, obviously. It's going to be the six-error game. It's going to be memorable. The first play that he has coming back from the injury, the first play, Lindor is back, he boots the ball. Then you see what happens at first base, and the fans start chanting, obviously.

**Craig Carton** (3:15)
Pete Alonso!

**Chris McMonigle** (3:17)
And it's not even Pete Alonso.

**Craig Carton** (3:19)
Pete Alonso!

**Chris McMonigle** (3:21)
It's not even Pete Alonso.

**Craig Carton** (3:22)
Pete Alonso!

**Chris McMonigle** (3:24)
It's not even that they don't have Pete Alonso. It's that peet-a-lonzo, and that's...
It's that Pete Alonso.

**Craig Carton** (3:34)
Pete Alonso!

**Chris McMonigle** (3:35)
And that decision is hovering, and it's the face of this entire offseason. And it's not because... If Pete Alonso were here, would they be better? Pete Alonso! Would they be better?

**Craig Carton** (3:46)
Yes!

**Chris McMonigle** (3:46)
Yes, they'd be better. Of course they'd be better. Would they be good?
