We have more children living in conflict and war zones than in any other time in history. Climate change is accelerating challenges, it's causing a lot of migration, we have inequality, we have 250 million children around the world who are currently out of school. And at the same time, humanitarian funding is shrinking.

Welcome to The Amber Mac Show. Coming up in today's episode, we tell you which company is now America's largest, the Canadian tech giant that wants us to shift our gaze away from Silicon Valley and how the Epstein Saga is disrupting an AI conference.
**Jeff MacArthur** (0:41)
Plus, we have two great guests this week who are joining us to talk about innovation to help kids and older adults. Save the Children will break down how they're using AI to keep girls and boys around the world safer. And also one of the creators of the Page Frame joins us to share how they're creating a new category of tech for seniors. So, let's get into the headlines. News Feed So, for this first story, I had to double check it because it's so weird, but it appears that the US State Department is going to use its freedom.gov website as a portal so that Europeans and other less enlightened parts of the world can access information that has otherwise been banned by their governments. So, as the vice president of the most crooked lying and information controlling administration in modern US history explained recently at the Munich Security Conference, quote, free speech I fear is in retreat. And in the interests of comedy, my friends, but also in the interest of truth. I will admit that sometimes the loudest voices for censorship have come not from within Europe, but from within my own company, where the prior administration threatened and bullied social media companies to censor so-called misinformation. So, that's pretty rich coming from JD. Vance of the Trump administration.
**Amber Mac** (2:03)
This seems to be in response to the perceived censoring of conservative voices, but it is totally a head-scratching moment that the US government would spend taxpayer money on something like this, given that it specifically is targeting citizens in faraway countries. When we were recording this, I just went to check out the freedom.gov website, and all that's there is a Paul Revere on horseback animation above the title, quote, freedom is coming with the words, information is power, reclaim your human right to free expression, get ready below that. We should note that this comes after Trump defunded a previous Internet freedom program that helped groups around the world to help populations in Iran, Cuba, Venezuela and beyond to access unrestricted Internet, which makes this move even more confusing. And Jeff, I do want to say, I just read an article about this on Reuters, and I had to read it three times over, because it said that the types of things that will be on there will be things such as maybe hate speech that is blocked in Europe, or possibly information about terrorist activities. I mean, it was a very bizarre explanation for what is a site that makes absolutely no sense for a government to do.
**Jeff MacArthur** (3:23)
No, I mean, you know, is it the US government facilitating you getting your deepfake porn, perhaps? Because, you know, obviously, a major member of the Doge thing with Musk and all that has been engaged in that sort of thing. So it's just nuts. The stuff that they quote, as you say, are like, yes, I think everybody should be glad we're not hearing about that stuff. And certainly the left went far too far with censorship stuff. But this is just the exact kind of performative nonsense that they would criticize the left for doing. So anyway, pretty rich. I mean, this is the administration that's so dedicated to keeping the truth from people that its constant threats against even non-government players are now starting to drive some very regrettable moves too. And a most recent one is the Gallup polling decision, even though they won't attribute it to Trumpian pressure, but it's hard not to think about it that way for me, to end Gallup's 88 years of monthly presidential approval polling.
So, you can imagine how much Trump doesn't like the fake polls that are showing how terribly he's doing, and to see this happen and them try to explain it away as having nothing to do with the current administration is nuts. Thankfully, there are still organizations that won't bow to these kinds of demands, like perhaps what I think is the greatest recurring publication in existence, The Economist, who recently shared that Trump's approval rating is now only 39%, with a disapproval rating of 56%. So over more, more than half of Americans don't approve of what he's doing. And 6% of Americans are so gormless that they can't figure out if they approve or disapprove of what's an obviously terrible president. So I don't know how those 39% are making their decision, but it's the 6% who don't even know that I really worry about.
