Full Show: Will Giannis Join the Champion Knicks? Cookie and Big Mac Debate

A lot of baseball today, first time in a couple weeks as we get through the next championship. Obviously, NBA draft is coming up. Obviously, Giannis is on the move and everyone thinks he's either going to the Miami Heat or he's going to the Boston Celtics. But there's a third team that I think you're all being silly to not even consider since the deal as we know is not yet done before we get to that third team. Good afternoon, Big Mac, how are you?

**Chris McMonigle** (0:39)
I'm doing great. I hope everybody had a great Father's Day weekend. I know you were hanging meat.

**Craig Carton** (0:44)
I told you.
I FaceTime Big Mac. I said, look, I'm going Brazilian style and I don't mean the wax. I had a broken down fire pit. I had logs in there and I was grilling outside like my ancestors did. It was awesome.

It looked like a beautiful day for you.

It sure was. So who is this third team? So I got a third team. So I want to be clear. As of right now, all the experts will tell you, and they are far more included than we are, that it's either the Miami Heat or it's going to be the Boston Celtics. There's some talk that if it's the Heat, maybe it's a third team that has to get involved to match up salaries and ball picks and players, et cetera, et cetera. That guy that covers the Heat about 10 minutes ago came out and said, there's a bunch of guys the Heat are not willing to part with on this squad, so it might make it a little bit harder for them. So let's just say it's the Boston Celtics right now, okay?
Prior to this iteration of Giannis being traded, the only team he wanted to go to were the New York Knicks. So I'm just putting this out there for the sake of the conversation.
By a show of hands, how many of you think confidently today that the Knicks do run it back? The entire corps, and let's say Mitch Robinson gets the deal done also. You lose Shamit, you lose Clarkson, you lose Alvarado, okay? But the corps is back, right? And you obviously replace those guys with other journeyman type players like they were before they came, right? Okay, do you think right now today that the Knicks run a championship next year?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:10)
Well, it's hard to repeat. I think they're capable of it, yes. I think they'll be the best team in the Eastern Conference.

**Craig Carton** (2:15)
Okay, I think they probably wouldn't be odds on the favorite, but right towards the top.
Either one or two in the East, I think that's a fair thing to say. Absolutely. Maybe third or fourth overall. What do you consider the thunder and the spurs out west? I think we're all in lockstep on that, right? Right. So I'm just going to put it out there, and I'm going to get attacked for it.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:32)
Don't do it.

**Craig Carton** (2:32)
I'm going to be buried for it.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:34)
Oh, they're the third team.

**Craig Carton** (2:35)
But I've got to ask the question.

I've got to ask the question. No. Would you give up Catten Bridges for him right now?

No.

**Craig Carton** (2:43)
You wouldn't?

No. You would?

I'm asking the question. We won the championship. We're trying to repeat. All right. Now, we went right through the East, like poop through a goose. So I agree. I think we are the best team in the East. Obviously, Giannis going to Boston to make me have to reconsider that a little bit. But I do think we're the best team in the East. But we've got the championship.
We've also got the best general manager slash president in all of basketball. I'm asking a question.
We have the audience right now wanted to do it six months ago.

That's true.

Yes. That's the point.

We've won the championship. I want to get better for next year.

All right. Carl Anthony Towns is never going to play better than he played early in this postseason from game four against Atlanta. I would say halfway through the Cav series because he was not great in the finals, a lot of foul trouble.
