Two o'clock straight up!
It's The Carton Show with Big Mac! All the way to seven o'clock tonight. Phone number to join as always, 888-808-109. Got a lot kicking today as those unbeatable New York Knickerbockers take game one on the road last night. After going down 14, they end the game on an 11-0 run. We out coach them, we out play them, we out superstar them, and we own them.
**SPEAKER_3** (0:36)
Series over!
**Craig Carton** (0:40)
Robbing them of their soul!
And I love it! And it serves you right, Wembayama Mama, for keeping your arms crossed and folded during our National Anthem. That's where it all went south. You no good Frenchman. I am so pumped up about last night's game and another double digit win for the New York Knickerbockers. Game cue tomorrow night and that will become a coronation of the Knicks as NBA Champions. Good afternoon Big Mac, how are you today?
**SPEAKER_4** (1:10)
I'm doing unbelievably well, Craig.
**Craig Carton** (1:12)
As you should be.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:13)
Normally I would push back. Normally I would say, Craig, let's not call the series over just yet.
No coronations, nothing, game one victory, but I'm done. I'm done pushing back, I'm done fighting. I'm done. This team just consistently shows an unwillingness to lose basketball games at a level that I can't imagine. They're down 14 in the third. They build an eight point lead in the fourth only to see it evaporate with three minutes left in the game to a one point deficit. And that doesn't stop them. Nothing stops them. It's unbelievable. They will find a way to win. Brunson who had a bad game, finds the magic again in the fourth. I thought Carl Anthony Towns was huge. Not chipping away at that 14 point deficit.
**Craig Carton** (1:54)
He had a great game.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:55)
He had a great game. Like it's just, it's unbelievable. And you're right, they had everything. And we watched Jalen Brunson. We talked about it. Obviously we did our halftime special on YouTube. Like we talked about it then. The injury and the knee and the ankle. Like two different times you were worried that the series might be over. Two different times you thought maybe Brunson won't be able to come back and play in the series. He's having a lousy game. And then yet again, there he is in the fourth quarter. Hitting circus shots, making every big play. The play of the game is probably his ability to keep that ball alive and get it to Bridges and get it back to him for the corner three to give them the two point lead after having a 9-0 run against them.
What we watched last night is a team that refuses to lose.
We talk so much about teams that don't know how to win. That's what we talk about here. We talk about the Yankees don't know how to win. Mets don't know how to win. Giants, big leads in Denver. Big leads all over the place. They have the Lions beat. They have the Bears beat. But they don't know how to win. We talk so much in this town about teams that don't know how to win. And this big team doesn't know how to lose. And it's better this way. I like the teams that don't know how to lose a lot better.
**Craig Carton** (3:01)
It's a lot better this way. I've never seen anything like it.
**SPEAKER_4** (3:03)
I've never seen anything like it.
**Craig Carton** (3:04)
And look, a double-digit win in this game? Double-digit win?
**SPEAKER_4** (3:07)
They're down 14 in the third quarter to the Spurs and Wemby. And they win it by double digits again?
**Craig Carton** (3:14)
Wemby was impressive defensively, but not offensively. I thought Carl Anthony Towns did a great job one-on-one coverage on him, which was an interesting game plan for the Knicks. I thought that was great out of the gate. And he did a great job yesterday. Shaman off the bench played 33 minutes last night. Thought his 13 points were huge for the New York Knicks.
Mitch Robinson, of course, no ill effects from the hand situation. And you're right. This team has, I don't know where they got it from.
The DNA of a champion. They don't know how to lose. They're not willing to lose. And they don't lose. And look, there's so many key parts of the game last night. Whether it's the three ball that you're talking about from the corner pocket.
After Brunson misses the shot, your tapster rebound out to McHale gives the right back to him. Whether it's the OG out of no B shot over Wemby off for three. They gave them a five point lead with nine minutes to go. Obviously, they relinquished that lead later on like you talked about. But, you are watching a champion be made and it's in real time. This is not being a homer. This is not just not seeing the warts and pimples they have. They do. They're an imperfect team and half time. We've got nothing out of McHale Bridge. There's nothing out of OG on a no B. Very little out of Brunson as well and then all of a sudden when it looks like the Spurs are going to run away with game one and have a deciding victory, the New York Knicks do what they do.
