Focus on what you can control

Good to finally get that out there. It's been fun watching that. For those of you that aren't hockey fans, sorry, but when your local team wins the World Championship, it's a lot of fun. We had the big celebration, the big parade yesterday, and it's been a party around Raleigh for the last week or so. So good times. Also today, happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there, to my dad, to Aaron's father, to everybody who gets a chance to talk to dad. Give him a call today. But also thank you for all those that are around us that help us dads do the things that we do and try and provide for families and others like that. So today, I want to dive a little bit into the Father's Day theme, not to get too wrapped up in it. But I got to think about, if I was trying to explain to my dad some of the insanity of the market that is, the uncertainty, the insanity, some of the craziness that's going on with the AI market right now. And I was explaining it to him, say, in the 1970s or the 1980s, before technology had become the center of everything we do. I got to think about the things that he would always tell me just in terms of just how to prepare yourself, how to deal with uncertainty, how to evaluate a situation and determine what role you should play in it, where you could be successful, where you should think that you should avoid. And so I thought what I'd do is I would take some of the situations that we have going on with AI right now, again, some of the uncertainty that's happening, some of the just pace of change that's happening, and apply some dad reasoning to it, which I try and do. I think about it myself as a father, as I'm thinking about my kids.
How do we prepare them for a world in which maybe AI is heavily involved, maybe it's not heavily involved. I'll dive into a little bit of that. We're going to get to all that right after the break.

We're back. As I mentioned, today, at least here in the United States, I don't remember if it is around the world. I should probably look that stuff up. But today is Father's Day, so happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there, and sons and daughters of fathers, and things along those things. But I was thinking about it, as many of you know, if you work in tech, you're probably getting questions from friends, family, from colleagues, from people that, if you tell them that you work on anything having to do with the newest technology, whether it's AI or something else, there's always questions about it. Hey, how does it work? Do I need to learn about that? Does that apply to me?
