**Eddie Hall** (0:00)
So you deadlifted 70 kilos, 11,000, what was it, 800?
**Danny Mulligan** (0:04)
700
**Eddie Hall** (0:05)
700, 38 times.
**Danny Mulligan** (0:06)
I don't think it will be very easy to beat this because no one wants to do that training.
**Eddie Hall** (0:10)
Yes. It sounds like you kind of adopted a nan here.
**Danny Mulligan** (0:13)
I don't know what she's adopted or something. I don't know what it is.
**Eddie Hall** (0:15)
Who's the next person to win World's Strongest moment for the UK? I'm watching Tom Stoltman. Didn't even have to hesitate. There's no doubt in my mind Tom can deadlift over half a ton.
**Danny Mulligan** (0:23)
I would challenge anybody to stay in the same room for 14 hours in training alone.
**Eddie Hall** (0:29)
How is your body after that?
**Danny Mulligan** (0:30)
A mess.
**Eddie Hall** (0:38)
Welcome back to The Good, The Bad and The Beast. Today's guest has just set a brand new world record at deadlifting 70 kilo or 155 pounds, an unbelievable 11,738 times in 24 hours. But this isn't just about the numbers, it's about obsession, purpose, and pushing the body far beyond what most people would think is possible. Please welcome to the podcast, Danny Mulligan. How are you, sir?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:10)
Very, very well.
**Eddie Hall** (1:12)
Fantastic to have you here, mate. Where have you come from today?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:15)
Nottingham.
**Eddie Hall** (1:16)
Sunny, sunny Nottingham.
**Danny Mulligan** (1:18)
Yeah, maybe sunny Nottingham. Yeah, that's where I was grew up, so yeah, just about an hour down the road here.
**Eddie Hall** (1:24)
Nice. You are one of what, five, six, seven siblings?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:27)
Seven kids, yeah.
**Eddie Hall** (1:29)
Seven kids, seven?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:30)
Seven.
**Eddie Hall** (1:30)
Including you?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:31)
Including me, so.
**Eddie Hall** (1:32)
Wow, that's a big family. So the Mulligan brothers, I've seen a lot of the Mulligan brothers in the Strongman circuit, they've been following the Stoltman brothers.
**Danny Mulligan** (1:40)
That's correct, yeah.
**Eddie Hall** (1:40)
Doing a documentary for what, six, five, six years?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:43)
Five or six years, yeah, yeah.
**Eddie Hall** (1:45)
Is that coming to a head soon?
**Danny Mulligan** (1:46)
It's apparently, I heard yesterday, it's finished, it's done.
**Eddie Hall** (1:51)
Oh, wow.
**Danny Mulligan** (1:51)
It's, the bow's around it, they're just, I don't know, selling it, if you like, selling it.
**Eddie Hall** (1:57)
Yeah, yeah, so they've edited it all, finished production.
**Danny Mulligan** (2:00)
Yeah, yeah. I've seen, I mean, I've seen a version of that five years ago.
**Eddie Hall** (2:04)
Yes.
**Danny Mulligan** (2:06)
And they've said, Dan, you might as well re-watch it because it's just... Completely different.
**Eddie Hall** (2:12)
That's what happens with documentaries, usually. You do a rough cut, everyone gets around a table, says it was shit. You do another cut, you go around the table, say it was shit, you knuckle it down from four hours down to a watchable hour and a half, two hours.
**Danny Mulligan** (2:28)
Yeah. I mean, but it is a really, really... From what I've seen, the stuff I've seen, the way they've sold the story, I don't want to give it too much away, but the way they've connected the loved ones as well.
It's much bigger than Strongman, basically. And then it's... Maybe I can say this. Yeah. The combination of the two brothers' relationships. Yeah.
**Eddie Hall** (2:51)
Which is beautiful. For those that don't know, the Stoltman brothers, the Strongest brothers in the world, to ever exist. And the Mulligan brothers have followed them around doing a documentary for six years. I did a final interview for them a few months back, so I'm assuming that was like something they were sort of waiting to tie in and wrap it all up.
**Danny Mulligan** (3:15)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, you'll be pleased to hear this, I suppose, but you were the kind of connecting dot, if you like. You filled the gaps, supposedly, that's what I've been told. But I have not seen the finished article, so...
**Eddie Hall** (3:31)
Okay, cool. I'm excited for that.
**Danny Mulligan** (3:32)
But I've just heard the post, like, post interview talk about you.
**Eddie Hall** (3:38)
Good. I love documentaries like that. I mean, I had my Eddie Strongman documentary on Netflix, and that was, that was honestly, in my opinion, and I think a few of the higher ups have said it, it was the turning point for Strongman. It's when Strongman became more of a, talked about viral sport. You know, it propelled it. You don't want to sound big-headed, but it really did give out to the masses. So here, there's another one on the way that potentially would be almost identical.
