Jim Donnell join us live in studio on his way to the garden, I'm sure, to talk about the watch party nonsense now and the blockade for game four that existed for game three. We were told it's to protect the president. Obviously, there've been numerous assassination attempts. So I think while it put people out a little bit, we understood the need for it, but we do not understand the need for it tonight without the president being in the building because we've successfully had major sport events in the city and games at the Garden over the course of the last month and a half without any major incident. So we'll get to the bottom of it. Is it the mayor's office? Is it the executive staff of NYPD?
Like who made the decision that New Yorkers couldn't be trusted with the watch party or congregating anywhere near Penn Station slash Madison Square Garden? It's a real problem for people tonight and rightfully so. All right, so we'll get to that with James Dolan coming up in about 30 minutes or so. Let's say hi to Dan and Belmore because of course the outcome of tonight's game is more important than all of that. It would just be great if we could all enjoy it together as we have so many other times. Danny, what do you got kiddo?

Hey, how's it going guys? Yeah, just coming from a retired cop's standpoint, obviously I rarely agree with anything City Hall does. But the stuff that's gone on, I would say that the last few games or a couple of games, it's not just secluded to MSG watch party obviously.
So what you're seeing online, all the things you're seeing in the last game especially, is one-tenth or one-twentieth of what you're actually seeing. So it seems we have a place in the society where a watch party is now turning into a demonstration instead of a celebration.

I don't know about that part, but look we all saw the violence that stemmed from the gathering that was in Bryant Park and spread out towards Times Square and other parts of the city. Unfortunately, there were a number of hooligans out there that did attack three or four Spurs fans. We've all seen the video. But my answer to that is, that was actually a city-run watch party. And while there have been a couple minor incidents outside the Garden during the Garden-run watch parties, nothing ever rose to that level of what we saw on Monday night. So I respect your service to the city very much as you know. But it's, if 50 people, 100 people act like jackasses at a different venue, does that mean that you can't trust anybody to go to any venue?
I don't think so. And I agree, that was a bad look for us as New Yorkers.

But at the same time, it's also not as easy as to just say, well, that was run by the city, this will be run by the garden. It's completely different. Like we've seen, we saw violence and we saw it, you know, after a Knicks loss and we saw it against Spurs fans and we saw it against, you know, we just, it's not like, I don't think you could just look at that and say, well, it'll be different because it won't be run by the city. This one, like I get the idea that we've seen some violence. So maybe be careful. Like I don't think that's crazy, but to the level that we're shutting down the city, I don't know if it's right or wrong.

I can say it's wrong. Like we're in New York City.

Like we have 8 million people living in this city. You'll give or take a couple, right? Yeah. Like we've experienced large crowds before without incidents.

No, of course.

You don't need to shut the city down for a basketball game. Even though it's the biggest sporting event we've had this century, you don't need to shut it down.

I don't disagree. I just don't know if I'm into the, well, that was city run. This would be different. I think a large gathering of people brought some issues to the last time.

**Craig Carton** (3:49)
Seems like we have too many problems at the Garden.

That's true. No, we haven't.

Like to be fair about it.

The realities of being right outside Madison Square Garden maybe lead to an easier containment area, maybe lead to less likely to have violence perpetrated there. I think that's all fair. But we're going to see. But I agree. I don't want to shut down.
