I mean, ultimately, he's not a very good outfielder. I mean, he's not.
He's not terrible. People talk about him like he's an absolute butcher out there. He hasn't been quite that bad, but he's not a very good outfielder. He made a bad read on the sinking line drive. It didn't matter if that was at, you know, Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Yosemite. You know, it doesn't matter. That ball was terribly misplayed and it was going to get behind him. And then it makes it worse when Ewing comes over and literally just tosses it.

It was just like, oh my god. I know they brought up the World Series play in 2015, obviously, which was similar.
But it's just ugly. And then on top of that, he has the no comment on the stuff about Chavez. When asked about the Chavez comments, he says no comment.

I don't know if he could have made it better by saying anything unless it was patently untrue. Unless it was patently and he called it false.

But I also, I want to hear other players talk about it. I want to know, and maybe they did, I did not watch the game.

No, but I want to hear, and I want to be fair about this, because I did not hear or watch the entire game last night. I probably saw about four innings of the game last night. Because it was easy to switch over from the Yankees, it was like 7-0 pretty quick, right? And I'm like, did Ron Darn reference it? Did Keith Hernandez talk about it? Did Gary talk about it?
Did Gary, I was Gary, did like Todd Zeal, did those guys? Like, I'd love to know the guys that are at the ballpark every single day and apparently didn't know or didn't recognize the allegation from Chavez. I'd love to get their take on it. How did everybody miss that as the story last year? And to be fair, not just the S&Y guys, not a single FN host talked about it that I'm aware of. So everybody sits here, we watch every inning of every game. Nobody noticed that.
No there were whispers in the clubhouse, by the way, because everyone's got sources, right? Everyone in the clubhouse is a media guy or gal that they probably trusted to say things to. Hey, next time we're at home, watch Soto, he was in the dugout during the game. How did we go an entire season and nobody noticed that? Yeah.
And the fact that he says no comment on it, to me, lends more truth to it.

Because all he had to say was, that's a ridiculous story, it's not true, and I'm not commenting on it beyond that.

No, he didn't say that. He said no comment. So. And I don't know if it's the best time to talk about it while the team's struggling like this. I don't know if it helps him any to actually address the comments. But, yeah, if they were false, you'd imagine they'd come out and be false. But again, to the point of not noticing it, did Chavez say he was every single at bat of every single game?

The entire half inning of every single half inning? It probably happened more noticeably than it should have happened, but it doesn't mean it happened all the time.

I think that would have been... If he was literally never in the dugout during the half innings while they were up at bat, outside of just going to hit, someone would have noticed it. But it probably happened too much.
