Craig Carton STUNNED by Geno Smith Story… Then FORGETS the Jets Coach?!

The Carton Show with Craig Carton & Chris McMonigle

June 23, 2026

Craig Carton and Chris McMonigle react to a New York Post report involving Geno Smith and a traffic stop that raised eyebrows.
Speakers: Craig Carton, Chris McMonigle

New York Post is reporting a couple of months ago that Geno Smith had a contentious run-in with police officers who pulled him over after reading his license plate, and the license plate was registered to a Lamborghini, and he was driving a Rolls Royce. So the cops pulled him over. He more or less accused the cop of being racist and asked him why he got pulled over, why the cop was reading his tags. He said, it's my job to read the tags. And he said, well, do your job better. And he said, that's fine, but these tags don't belong to this car. That's my job. And he goes, I got a lot of nice cars, fam. He goes, I must have accidentally just switched the tags onto the wrong car.
So he wound up getting a couple traffic violation tickets.
One was for the license plate issue, and the other one was for not producing a driver's license when requested by police officers. So, again, nothing major there.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:01)
No.

**Craig Carton** (1:01)
But he did have a runaway cop, so I guess it's three months ago now.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:04)
Yeah.

**Craig Carton** (1:05)
I'm just trying to think, how often do you change the license plates on your car?
Like, where you'd be like, I got a bunch of license plates, and every time I go out, I just slap one of them on the back of my car. I don't think I've ever changed it.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:20)
No.

**Craig Carton** (1:20)
Right? Unless I guess you buy a vanity plate or something.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:23)
Yeah, no, you would know better than me. I never had to decide which one I was going to take out today, Lamborghini or the Rolls. No.

**Craig Carton** (1:29)
Doesn't everybody make that decision like every Tuesday?

**Chris McMonigle** (1:33)
So I don't know how those luxury cars go. He's also, you got to remember, moving from city to city possibly, state to state.

**Craig Carton** (1:41)
So you change, you change, maybe you do.

**Chris McMonigle** (1:43)
Maybe you get better deals. Maybe when you're with that kind of car and the car insurance you must be paying for those type of cars, maybe state to state you do get a benefit. I have no idea, but I'm trying to think of why he would, but I agree with you.
I would never have thought. You put a license plate on a car, that's it.

**Craig Carton** (1:58)
You leave it there for the life of the car.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:00)
That's my impression, but maybe the life of millionaires driving exotic cars could be different for all I know.

**Craig Carton** (2:05)
Well, if you tell me that, all right, I had my 3, 4, 5, 8 cars, whatever it is, in Nevada when I played for the Raiders, and now I've moved all my stuff to New Jersey, so I had to get Jersey plates and they come in the mail.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:21)
And I put the wrong one on?

**Craig Carton** (2:22)
Okay, I accept that. I assume, like I don't have 12 cars, I don't know what that's like. Like I have a car. My license plate came from DMV. When I got it, I put it on the car.
I don't even know my license plate number. Do you know yours? Don't say it if you do.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:40)
No, I don't.

**Craig Carton** (2:41)
Like, Petey.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:42)
Well, I have to park every day.

**Craig Carton** (2:43)
Have you memorized your license plate number?

**Chris McMonigle** (2:45)
I know the first three letters.

**Craig Carton** (2:47)
Wow. I have no idea my license plate number.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:50)
No?

**Craig Carton** (2:52)
None whatsoever.

**Chris McMonigle** (2:53)
You couldn't even guess it? If you saw it, you wouldn't say that's mine?

**Craig Carton** (2:56)
Well, me and... If I saw it without the car attached to it?

**Chris McMonigle** (3:01)
Yeah. It's a good question. If I produce ten license plates and one of them was yours, could you be able to pick it out?

**Craig Carton** (3:07)
I'd like to think within two guesses, yes.
Because obviously I've seen it. I just haven't had the recall to go, oh, it's QR 743B. I have no idea.

**Chris McMonigle** (3:18)
No?

**Craig Carton** (3:18)
By the way, is O's coming by here? Is that right? Is that happening?

**Chris McMonigle** (3:23)
They had to cancel today.

**Craig Carton** (3:24)
So they called me at three o'clock to have O's on at five o'clock. And because I've known, and he's been on shows of mine before, I'm like, yeah, of course, love O's to come by. So I go, yeah, five o'clock works, we'll make it work.
