The Old Thieves song, much like the old Knicks, getting together like a mob meeting in Brooklyn, talking about how the old days were better than the new days. But when it comes to the Knicks, we're about to change that narrative. We're about to remind people that while the 1970s were fantastic, and we went to three finals and won two championships, in 2026, a new era of champions. We'll emerge, whether it's Saturday night, or Tuesday night, or God forbid, next Friday night.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:38)
Let's hope it's not next Friday night, that would be scary.
**Craig Carton** (0:41)
I've not got an answer about the parade yet. I'm trying to put that out there with you. And I understand why.
**Chris McMonigle** (0:48)
I don't know why, but Tuesday jumps out at me, because I don't know if they don't typically do it Monday. They give like a day into the week. My thought would be if they win tomorrow night, it's Tuesday night.
**Craig Carton** (0:56)
Well, you win Saturday.
You might even stay in San Antonio, come back Sunday, based on how late the game is going to go. But either way, Monday is all about, y'all gotta go on Good Morning America. Obviously, we'll have every Knick here on this show, because of our relationship with the Garden and the Knicks, etc. And then I think Tuesday gives everybody a chance to prepare. And don't forget, that falls on the sanitation folks. That's on them, right? And I know, just to give you a little insight, and you may or may not like hearing this, there's a company in Brooklyn right now that is making and packaging in huge garbage bags the ticker tape.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:39)
A bakery?
**Craig Carton** (1:40)
No, a company.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:41)
A company, I don't know what you said.
**Craig Carton** (1:42)
There's a company in Brooklyn right now, and they have a contract with the city. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're the official ticker tape company for parades in New York City.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:52)
So what happens if they don't win?
**Craig Carton** (1:53)
I guess you put it back in a closet and you wait till next time. Yeah.
**Chris McMonigle** (1:59)
Been saving ticker tape for many years now. 15 years in the city.
**Craig Carton** (2:02)
Now, there was a Figezi parade for the Liberty, and there was a Figezi parade for a women's soccer team that won the Olympic gold, if you remember.
And I say Figezi because they turned the whole thing into politics, and sports should not involve politics at all. There was also a different mayor then.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:22)
Not even that, it wasn't one of the four major championships. That's what the championship parades unfortunately are about, Major League Baseball, NFL, NBA, NHL.
**Craig Carton** (2:30)
But if you listen closely, that company, and I know some guys that work at that company, the ticker tape is being made now.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:38)
Is it like just a bunch of guys in an office cutting it up with scissors?
**Craig Carton** (2:41)
That's a machine.
**Chris McMonigle** (2:42)
Yeah, it's probably a machine.
**Craig Carton** (2:42)
It used to be manual. And then Billy was like, really?
**Chris McMonigle** (2:46)
Really?
**Craig Carton** (2:47)
That's what you got me doing? The front, the front, the front, the front, the front.
Anyhow, so the tigger tape will be ready, whether it's Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Michael, I look, I don't have to drive, Michael. Wednesday, Tuesday, Friday.
**Chris McMonigle** (3:03)
Yeah.
I hope it goes better for us than Apollonia, that's for sure. But yeah, no, listen, I don't want to talk about the parade just yet.
**Craig Carton** (3:12)
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm glad you're just walking into the studio. Gerald, we're going to have you right over here, kiddo.
Good to see you.
What a privilege, what a privilege. One of my favorite Knickerbockers of all time, who I think was that game for him. I'm not, we'll figure out that in a second. Turn the mic out for me, Petey. Gerald Wilkins, everybody.
**Gerald Wilkins** (3:32)
What's going on, girl?
**Chris McMonigle** (3:32)
Gerald, thank you for joining us.
**Craig Carton** (3:34)
Craig and Chris over there.
**Gerald Wilkins** (3:35)
My pleasure, man, my pleasure.
**Craig Carton** (3:36)
How are you doing, pal?
**Gerald Wilkins** (3:37)
Hey, listen, if it was a fifth, we all be drunk.
**Craig Carton** (3:40)
I'm on the bus right now.
**Gerald Wilkins** (3:43)
Hey, listen, I'm looking forward to this whole weekend.
**Craig Carton** (3:46)
Just move that mic right in front of you, if you don't mind.
**Gerald Wilkins** (3:48)
You know, just trying to make things happen is, man.
