Craig Carton BLASTS Knicks Fans After Ugly MSG Incident

The New York Knicks are wrapping up a lengthy press conference on behalf of the NBA. Both teams obviously have to meet the media. And thus far, nothing really urgent to say out of it, but there is a report out there now that the NBA has admitted, I guess the head of officiating, let me be specific, of the NBA did come out within the last hour, and has acknowledged that the referees in last night's game missed the foul that should have been called, Wemby, Fowling, Brunson. He said they're continuing to replay that moment to decide whether or not they should retroactively give Wemby the flagrant one. And all that means is they've already made their decision, and now they're just wavering back and forth on should we or shouldn't we. Now remember, if they give Wemby the flagrant one, he's at the limit of flagrant points when you get flagrant fouls, meaning if he gets another one, it's an immediate ejection. Okay, it's a suspension for a game.

So, yes. I'm not sure if it goes into the next game, like depending on when you get the flagrant.

Yeah, I don't know.

I think it's just the game that you're in.

The point is, if they give him the retroactive flagrant today for the abuse of Brunson, which they should. I mean, it'd be frankly comical. If the NBA doesn't give him the flagrant one, you could argue it's a flagrant two. I know for a fact that ain't going to happen. No. Because then you'd misgame four.

Yeah, they're not going to do that.

But he deserves the flagrant one for it.

So now, here's why it becomes a big issue.
One of the biggest or most called flagrant one fouls in the NBA today is your foot not letting a shooter's foot come down on the ground. Now I don't view that as flagrant, but the NBA has deemed that flagrant, which is what Brunson got called for on the Champagne Three-pointer last night, okay?

**Craig Carton** (1:59)
And I thought that was a terrible call, in my opinion, because if you make that call, then you gotta call the same thing on Wemby, on the close out on the Josh Hart Three. I put a still photo of that out on Twitter, if you wanna go see it, it's the same thing. I make the argument it's worse, because he's going towards Hart, where in the Brunson case, he turned his back on the shooter. Okay? He neither here nor there.
You gotta give the retroactive flagrant to Wemby, and what that means is, in any game, the rest of the series, four, five, six, and seven, if it goes that far, if he gets called for a flagrant, he's done.

He's out. So the same thing for Brunson now. That's why Brunson has that.

No, Brunson hasn't gotten to three points yet, I don't think.

Oh, he's already, that would be the second flagrant?

**Craig Carton** (2:46)
I think that's his second point.

Yeah, once you get, it's beyond three, they call them points.

Flagrant one equals one, flagrant two equals two.

I believe Brunson's at two.
So that's where we're at. So Brunson will have to have two more to then be ejected from the game.

Wemby, theoretically, if the NBA does the right thing.

And that carries over from playoffs?

**Craig Carton** (3:09)
Yes. Okay. Yeah.

I was going to say, I don't remember him having one in the series.

No, it's a postseason thing.

Postseason thing.

Yeah. Matter of fact, I think it even carried over originally from the regular season into the postseason. Historically. In any event, that's where we're at. If the NBA retroactively gives Wemby the flagrant one, the next time he gets a flagrant, he's removed from the game. And that becomes obviously, duh.
The New York Knicks win the series when that happens. If that should happen.

And I'm sure the NBA is going back and forth right now. Do we have the balls to do it?
