This is the bombshell, and every creator I talk to, every single person is like, they actually hate me because of this. Every single short, all 2 billion views, unscripted.

What?

Thank you for having me. I'm excited to be on here.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:41)
And we also have Vex, number one YouTube trash in the world.

**RoyalPear** (0:44)
I know, Vex. We kind of go back.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:46)
You gained 4 million subs in basically 2 years. So first question is, when's the face revealed?

**RoyalPear** (0:53)
So, okay, good thing is, my face is out there. And look up Royal Pear face, it's out there. It's actually in some videos too, and some shorts. And I actually am glad that it is, because I feel like there's some people out there that would just be searching like crazy, man.
So yeah, I'm technically like, I'm a faceless creator, but it's like, I've shown my face. But I think it's just the mascot, for those who don't know, it's like based off of a Pokemon, Tropius, but it's not actually a Tropius, Nintendo if you're watching.
And yeah, it's kind of just branding at this point. I love the face. It's like, I'm kind of monotone. I'm kind of like, I feel like the face just fits my vibe perfectly.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:36)
Four million subs in two years. That's crazy. And I want to understand everything, how you went that crazy growth. But first, how did you start YouTube? What did you do before YouTube?

**RoyalPear** (1:47)
Yeah, so I posted my first video. I'm actually relatively new.
So I posted my first video early 2022 I was in college at the time. And there was this game called Smash Bros. I started out just making content for that. And about a year of making videos on Smash, not really lots of growth. But I did get a lot of comments saying, hey, you're funny.
You have potential. I like this editing style. But the comments are great, man, but I really want the views. That's what I realized. So the next year, I started making more broad ideas and videos that kind of anyone could watch. And my first, it was actually a long form. There's this kid show called Bluey that I decided to watch and make a video about. And it got like 50k views. And for the time, that was huge, man, because to me, that was like, oh, wait, this is something anyone could watch. And then I started making shorts. Then that's just when everything blew up.
When going into shorts though, because they were still kind of new at the time, I knew I wanted to make shorts, like their own unique content. Like I didn't want my shorts to be like a clip of a long form, you know? So I wanted to make content specifically for shorts. And it worked out.

**SPEAKER_3** (3:02)
I think we can go more in depth to understand how that blow up started, right? So let's go with the beginnings. All right, first short, 14 million views.

**RoyalPear** (3:14)
As you can see, look at the beginning of the graph. It took a while to take off. I remember first like learning about shorts and like, you know, like, I got to get good AVD. I got to get like I don't even think swipe percentage existed at the time. Like it wasn't a stat you could see.
But like I remember the shorts 45 seconds. And I think I had AVD of like I was aiming for like 35 And I remember I got it and I texted my friend. I was like, yo, this has like 40 views, but I think it's going to take off. And it did, man.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:46)
I would just say, I'd love to, so this is your first ever short, which is like, it's like, that's an insane stat by the way, that you got 14 million views, your first ever short. I mean, like texting your friend like, okay, I got 40 views, I think it's going to take off.
How did you come up with this idea with your shorts? Cause you mentioned that you want your short form pieces of content to be their own pieces of content that are like, you know, individualized and not clips from videos, but they still like retain like, you know, your personality and your humor.
