Mets have won 7 out of 10, 6 out of 7, still 5 games under 500, 10 and a half out of 1st, and 6 and a half out of a wild card, but you gotta start somewhere. And they have been playing better baseball, and if you get back to 500, then you could be taken seriously. And with them now actually playing decent baseball all the way around and scoring some runs, it is possible that they get there quicker than maybe we expected that they did. The Philadelphia Phillies certainly did it after firing Rob Thompson and hiring Don Mattingly as managers. They are now two games over 500 on a five game winning streak. But they've still got a negative run differential as well.
You've got the Braves at plus 86 in run differential and every other team in the division is negative run differential.

Well, I mean, had the Braves dealt with any injuries whatsoever. Like last year, they dealt with a lot of injuries. It's one of the reasons why they didn't make it. But when you think about where we are in the season, in the middle of May, I mean, come on. I mean, we still have a long way to go. And, you know, I would say that beating the Yankees, two out of three over the weekend, you know, that kind of puts a little bit more confidence back in your roster. And all of a sudden, guys start playing while they start feeling like a little bit more comfortable. Look, guys, bats are starting to wake up. You know, it happens to every baseball team. Eventually, the Braves will go through their injury downturn and they'll have, you know, a bad 10 game run there somewhere along the line and everybody will get a little bit closer.
And, you know, you keep your eye on the wild card. It's one of the reasons why Major League Baseball added the wild card so teams aren't out of it so early in the season and that they can still remain in playoff contention. And that will be interesting when we get to the trade deadline because, you know, two weeks ago, everybody's on the trade deadline except for Benj and McLean. You know, that everybody can trade anybody and you obviously are not going to trade Soto and Ladore but, you know, and they're doing this with a couple guys at a position and a couple guys missing.
So it's a testament to the guys that are hanging in there. That's for sure and making the most of their opportunities.

Yeah, and both of these last victories could have gone the other way in heartbreaking fashion and they didn't. And during that 12 game losing streak and some of their biggest down moments, they were on the wrong end of that.
They were the ones that were giving up the 3 run homer in the bottom of the 9th. They were the ones that were kicking the ball around. They were the ones that were seeing a team break out for a 5 or 6 run inning and the Mets do it for 10 runs last night in the 12th. So yeah, I mean both of these games could have gone the other way Sunday and Monday and didn't and now they're riding a 3 game winning streak at 6 out of 7 and feeling a lot better with their stud on the mound tonight to get to 4 games.
**Boomer Esiason** (2:38)
And that's the way you got to look at a baseball team. It's the twists and turns of the season. It's up and it's down. And right now, the Yankees are a little bit in a downturn, although winning last night helps and now if they can win again today, now all of a sudden you start to feel a little bit better and you start looking at their record and it's one of the better records in the American League and you're not feeling so bad.
It's just a daily stress meter that both of these teams put you through. And we have to wait until we get to September to really find out whether or not they are legitimately going to be any good and have a chance to win a world championship. That's all. And it's the same thing every season.
