Yesterday, after we left here, you know, when you're perusing through social media, you see so many things, and things that had not arrived yet when we were on the air yesterday.
**Gio Gonzalez** (0:11)
You're talking about the Wembee OG thing?
**Boomer Esiason** (0:12)
The Wembee OG thing, you know, all the celebrations throughout New York, you know, going down, some of the people that got arrested, some of the idiocy that was going on. But for the most part, I would say like 98% of it seemed like it was really good. It was like pure, it was like just pure emotion amongst a lot of really young people out in the streets. And it seemed like everybody was getting together. Everybody was rallying around, you know, what this team has done, how this team has done it, you know, especially with the way that they won game four.
And then there's always that group of people that ruin everything for everybody. And I, you know, it's really disappointing at times. And sometimes it's really embarrassing. But for the far majority of the kids that are out in the street and enjoying themselves and celebrating a Nick win. I mean, I remember being a kid and feeling the same way when this team won two championships. So I can't sit here now, some 45 years, 50 years later and say they shouldn't be out celebrating. You know, I want them to celebrate. I want them to cheer. I want them to be happy. I want them to be, you know, proud of something from around here. I just don't want them attacking five guys fry cooks. You know what I mean? I just, I want...
**Gio Gonzalez** (1:26)
Is that so much to ask?
**Boomer Esiason** (1:28)
Right. And you know, the thing about you talk about Saturday night, Saturday night, you and I will be so far away from this place on Saturday night. Oh, yeah. That we wouldn't have to deal with it. But I do. I honestly, I honestly wonder what's going through some people's minds when they do some of the things that you've seen on social media.
And it does. It really does bother me. And I guess I'm older, so like I don't even want to understand why people would do something like this. But it does put a little bit of a stain on things. And I don't want that. I want people to feel proud about this city. I want people to see just what the Knicks mean to the city. I think James Dolan wants that. I think all the Knicks players want that. But they also want everybody to respond in kind. You know what I'm saying?
**Gio Gonzalez** (2:12)
Like, of course. And to be proud of it. There's nothing I can do to stop this type of behavior. Obviously, I don't want to see it either. I do agree that there's a lot of other videos out there of that kids in other parts of the city that are actually celebrating in a way that you feel like is normal. There was a video that was actually pretty funny of just some people that were just out in the streets. Knicks fans had some music going and a UPS driver pulls up and they're just going UPS, UPS. It's just something as pure as that.
**Boomer Esiason** (2:40)
Just as long as they're not breaking into the UPS truck and stealing all the packages.
**Gio Gonzalez** (2:44)
Right, the Times Square, what they're doing is they're taking the UPS driver hostage.
But anyway, it can't ruin it for me. I understand where you're coming from. There's no stain. There's nothing that can be a stain put on this for me unless something like, one of the Knicks does something horrible to another player or something like that.
**Boomer Esiason** (3:06)
Well, you also don't want eggs being thrown at you. Of course you don't.
**Gio Gonzalez** (3:09)
I mean, these are obvious things, but for God's sakes, I'm not gonna let any negativity creep into this. I've never seen one of my teams win a championship, never remembered it. I always mention four years old and 86, I have no recollection of that. A bunch of crazed, nutso teens in the middle of the street doing horrible, stupid things that I can't understand isn't gonna drag me down. Absolutely no way, no how. And it's funny because I open up going, nothing can drag me down and you're like, here's something for you. Well, let me try.
And one guy can drag you down, it's me, Boomer Esiason, on Feel Good Summer Friday. I told you, nothing's getting to me, not even that hot garbage when we come into the building in the morning, nothing is getting to me. Now, the Wembee stuff I did see yesterday and it's so good, I was gonna bring it up later in the show, the audio, Al played it in the warm up show, Tiki Barber calling, He's a cocky ass, Wembee is.
