Best of the Knicks on WFAN: How the Knicks just pulled off the greatest comeback ever

After the greatest comeback at NBA Finals history, this team, these guys, that coach, the fans, everything, this is as special as it gets. I've never been so jacked up on two and a half hours of sleep without some sort of alcohol or super caffeine or whatever. This is a natural high in sports that you could only get when your team's knocking on the door of a championship. You will remember, Knicks fans, if they win.
Well, you'll still remember, but it's really special if they win. Where you were, what you were doing, every single play down the stretch of last night at the Garden. Good morning, Boomer, how are you?

I am just like you, G, I am giddy. I have never seen anything like this. As Mike Breen said last night after the game was over, the greatest single comeback in NBA playoff history was done by this group of guys who have done so many amazing things during this playoff run.
I don't know what to say. At half time, I was annoyed, I was frustrated. I know you were, I know Nick fans all across the country were. I know people in that building couldn't believe what they were witnessing. Wemby going off, De'Aaron Fox going off, Stefan Castle going off, everybody just going off left and right. And I know everybody's got a million text threads going on during these games. Even if you're not at the game, you're sitting at home, you're watching in bed, and you're texting your friends. And all your friends are saying, hang in there, hang in there. One guy said, I'm out, I can't watch this. This is too depressing. Another guy said, just get it within 15 points, get it within 15 points. Just get it to where you can do something and get a couple stops.
And all of a sudden, for whatever reason, and I think it was because I don't say tight, I say tired. I think the San Antonio Spurs were really tired in the fourth quarter. And it reflected in the shooting by both Wemba Nyama and De'Aaron Fox and some of the decisions they were making in throwing the ball away and turnovers. But then again, the Knicks were still kind of playing the same game that they were playing in the first set. They had a couple of bad turnovers, a couple of bad miss shots. But all of a sudden, I swear to God, OG Anunoby is a godsend. He truly is the OG man. This guy is the OG. The plays that he makes, the shots that he makes, the little things that he does on defense, the three-point shot last night is right in the middle of the comeback. Of course, the block of the Aaron Fox, of course, the put back with 1.2 seconds to go. And then Jalen Brunson hitting a big three, Jose Alvarado hitting a huge three. You know, and remember, like the great thing about this team through this run has been the contributions by everybody. And I have to say, you know, in the first half, there were no contributions. It was a mess. It was a mess again. Guys coming off the bench couldn't hit anything.
I don't think that Deuce McBride could hit anything at the moment. I don't think, you know, even Landry Shammet had troubles last night. But for some reason, this Nick team has this inside ability within each one of them to not really get overly panicky and get down, especially when the game is on the line. When the game is on the line, they end up playing their best basketball.

Yeah, I mean, there was a point in this game that it was so ugly. I mean, Mike Brown's using all these guys off the bench. We're seeing Jeremy Sohan and Ariel Huck Porty. And everybody's pissed off at the refs. It felt volatile watching on TV, on TV in the garden because everybody's pissed off at the officials to go from that to what you had at the end of the game where nobody is leaving. They're doing the postgame show in front of about 80 percent of the crowd still there singing, Don't Stop Believing into Frank Sinatra's New York, New York into Billy Joel's New York State of Mind. And there's so many plays in this game that allowed them to come back. But of course, that OG Anunoby tipping is going to be that iconic New York sports moment if and when they win this championship that will go up there with all of them. And I'm talking all of them in the history of New York sports, every team and their individual thing, everything that's still image in this video of him running in, his eyes focused on the ball and tipping that in to give them the lead. Now I understand you're talking about a team that's inbounding and has a second and a half left and a seven foot four guy who basically is playing on a little children's net, he's so giant. So it's like you still had anxiety and still had aji to go into that final possession.
