I had to convince myself that the Jets are going to have a really good season. And now I'm back to just not trusting Geno Smith at all.

I've been saying this about the Jets for a while. They just need a winning season so that every single stupid thing that comes out doesn't make us think the Jets are doomed. Because that's what happens. You're getting closer to the season. You're just waiting for the year to start. You're feeling good about the team. You're feeling good about Mugee for sure. Even if you're not high on Glenn and I'm not.
You feel good about Mugee. You feel good about the draft. You feel good about the way they've executed their plan. You feel good about the trade. You feel good. He seems like a real competition.

It honestly feels that way. Not that the Geno Smith story knocks you off that track or makes you feel the Jets have been knocked off that track because ultimately who's Geno Smith? He's a one year quarterback that nobody has real high expectations for.

That's a reminder. Geno Smith getting pulled over for the third time in a month and having these problems is a reminder to me not to get too pumped up for the Jets starting this resurgence to at least, I don't know, decency, right?
It's a reminder to me that I think we're going to be a better football team and I think the draft picks are going to prove that. The trades he's made obviously I think give the Jets great opportunities in next year's draft as well with three number ones and all that, right?
Every time Geno Smith is in the news, it's a reminder to me, which might be a good thing I guess, that Geno Smith is a one and done. The long term star quarterback of the New York Jets is going to be the guy we draft next year. Knock on wood, we picked the right guy obviously, right? So to me, it's just a reminder that yes, the Jets are going to be better, but we're not going to be better enough. But it's a reminder to me, we don't have our quarterback. So Geno in a weird way is doing me a favor. Every time he's a knucklehead and gets pulled over by the cops, driving someone else's car without a driver's license, doing almost twice the speed limit in his own neighborhood, it's a reminder to me that we only have to deal with him for one year. And then we can start the reclamation project, I'll give the Jets back to respectability.

So now we're talking about the quarterback that has done something. It just reminds me that both these teams need to win and need to cleanse the palette so that everything that circles their orbit doesn't get pulled and sucked in with all this crap. It's unbelievable. Every single thing that happens.
Like Geno Smith, when's the last time he was in the news for anything else other than either interceptions or resurrecting his career? But he comes to the Jets and suddenly he's getting pulled over left and right.
